Vilas County Circuit Court Judge rules in the favor of the Lake District

Vilas County Circuit Court Judge Milanowski ruled in the favor of the Lake District, finding that the Wisconsin DNR erred in denying Dr. Blankespoor a Scientific Research License.  The Judge ordered the DNR to issue a 3-year license for the Swimmer’s Itch project by September 10, 2025.  There is a contingency on the license as ordered by Judge Milanowski .... Dr. Blankespoor must have his Federal Scientific Collecting Permit renewed, which he is actively pursuing. Click the following to review both the “Judgement” and “Order for Judgement”.

350 Muskies Stocked in Twin Lakes for Revival Program

On October 1, 2024, the Wisconsin DNR stocked 350 PIT-tagged Muskellunge fingerlings into North and South Twin Lakes. Due to the difference in size between the two lakes, 275 fingerlings were released into North Twin and 75 into South Twin. This stocking is part of a two-year Musky Stocking Program, with activities scheduled for even-numbered years; the next stocking effort will take place in 2026.
